How it works

Maturity value = P × (1 + r ÷ (100 × n))^(n × t), where P is deposit amount, r is annual interest percentage, n is compounding periods per year, and t is tenure in years. For example, 100,000 deposited at an assumed 7% rate for 2 years with quarterly compounding (n=4) yields 14,888.18 in interest for a 114,888.18 maturity value.

Questions

Why do fixed deposits commonly use quarterly compounding?

Most retail banking institutions compute term deposit interest every three months, reinvesting the accrued interest into the principal for subsequent quarters.

Does this calculator account for tax deducted at source (TDS)?

No. The output shows pre-tax interest earnings. Tax rules and withholding thresholds vary by jurisdiction and personal tax brackets.

Are the calculated yields guaranteed?

No. This calculator is a mathematical model based on the figures you supply. Verify current terms and rates directly with your banking institution.
