GST Calculator
Enter an amount and a GST rate to see the tax and the final price. Switch the option to work backwards from a price that already includes GST, which is what you need when a supplier quotes an all-in figure.
How it works
To add GST, multiply the amount by the rate and divide by 100. To remove it, divide the price by 1 plus the rate as a decimal. For example, 1,180 at 18% is 1,180 ÷ 1.18 = 1,000 before tax, so the GST is 180. Within one Indian state the tax is usually split equally into CGST and SGST; between states it is charged as IGST.
Questions
How do I remove GST from a price?
Choose "already includes GST". The calculator divides the price by 1 plus the rate, so 1,180 at 18% gives 1,000 before tax and 180 of GST.
When is GST split into CGST and SGST?
For a sale within the same Indian state, the tax is normally split equally into CGST and SGST. For a sale to another state it is usually charged as IGST. Your accountant can confirm how your sale is treated.
Which GST rate should I use?
The rate depends on what you sell. The buttons show common rates, but you can type any rate. Check the current rate for your item before you bill.
