How it works

Final amount = P × (1 + r ÷ n)^(n × t), where P is the starting amount, r is the yearly rate as a decimal, n is the compounding periods per year and t is the years. 10,000 at 8% compounded yearly for 5 years gives about 14,693.

Questions

Does more frequent compounding make a big difference?

It helps, but less than the rate or the time. Change the option above to compare the figures for your amount.

Does this include tax or inflation?

No. It shows plain growth before any tax, fees or inflation.

Is this a promise of what I will earn?

No. It is only arithmetic. Real returns depend on the actual product and may be different.
